Chance Vought F4U-1 "birdcage canopy" Corsair.

This airplane was flown by Maj. Donald H. Stapp, USMC while he commanded VMF-222 In the Solomons Campaign. He scored 12 kills. Osprey "Aces" says 10/4/2 but they also list his last name as Sapp :>) He won a Navy Cross, and DFC in the Solomons. Later he commanded VMF 122 at Peleliu In the Central Pacific wing a bar to his DFC and 3 Air Medals. Stapp also served in Viet Nam and retired as a full Colonel.

I refined the 3DZ to provide an appropriate sized prop and prop hub, refined the shape of the nose and tail tips, deepened the cockpit slightly and added camo color to the gear doors instead of black.

I would like to give credit for the basis 3DZ but I have no idea of everyone whose hands it passed through. Two I am aware of are Woolfman, and Schatten who made some updates to the old PAW wireframe model.

I have included Keith 'Lobo 78th' Rogers' terrific Corsair cockpit which he developed with help from Wolf257's 3dz that gives the 'wings forward' and corsair shaped wings from the interior views, as well as the repainted gauge face pcx's. Plus Miggie-green cockpit interiors from his P-47 D pcx's and PapaRomeo-Navy Mk8 gunsight reticle. I recolored the wing markings to match this skin.

This is a fully non-mirrored model so markings appear correctly on both sides of the fuselage.

For use with Charles Gunst's ECA (Enemy Coast Ahead) Panel. It uses the P51D slot.
To install, just unzip the *.TPC and *.3DZ files into your EAW directory.

There is an extra .PCX for an unmarked aircraft included if you'd like to try your hand at adding your own markings, with my full blessings.

Have fun,

Captain Kurt
